Research on 6th Year Anniversary Trip
its the time of the year, when most nsmen and students are busy with NDP preparations. and it is also the time of the year to exclamate:amazing leh. we are still together. LOL.
we have decided to either go overseas or get a resort stay during the weekend for our anniversary. this yr the date is great. 10th august is on a friday, so we only need to take 1.5 day leave and make it a long wkend. but damn. long wkend = expensive to travel out = expensive to get a wkend get away even in Singapore.
anyways, at the moment we are considering either hongkong or taiwan.
according to zuji.com,
Hongkong Air Tix cheapest to get away on 8th aug and back on 12th aug is:
$410 fr Cathay and$430 fr SIA. i rather spend $20 more.. safer..
$407 fr SIA for minimum of 2 adults traveling together.
as for accomodations, amos got contact for a guest house kinda stay which should be around $50 per person for 1 nite. if that is the case why not check out the hotels? mayb they got some cheap with standard hotels like our Hotel 81 leh? * standard as in not neon light with chickens running around naked when police raid, the room is clean and the bed won't collapse in the middle of sleep, the pillow is clean, the toilet is clean etc. basically, cleanlinest.
found like 13 hotels with less than $137 per room per nite. stay more discount more for some lor and some got breakfast.
the best deal seems to be Regal Oriental Hotel in Kowloon City. (btw, can someone enlighten me? hongkong is separated into HongKong and Kowloon isit?)
- $104 per nite, after 10% off 1st 3 nite as stay more than 3 nites.
- 40 minutes bus ride away from airport
- review says room is small, but not claustrophic kind. ok, don't need big room, we'll be out touring anyway.
- got food in the hotel! doesn't matter, we will be going out. but i often get hungry.
- wtf i juz saw the photos. that muthafuken aussie who reviewed it says its small? the room is like Ritz lor! or mayb thatz the presidential suite. oh wells. heck. at least the lobby looks good. so the room shldnt be too far off.
- got counter at airport to help us with transportation to their hotel leh. but need pay onot still dunno. heck. if exp den we take train or bus la. amos is damn good with the octopus card already.
cool shit. juz to get there and stay there and get back : $500 per head. dunno bout taxes yet. we are both not shoppers, just want look look see see eat eat walk walk. so problie $800 per person for the entire trip would be safe? at least the flight is SIA = VERY SAFE. GOOD. dear, lets take this~!
oh wait, i totally threw off my mind other cheap hotels.
wah i used to think that buying and ordering air tix and hotel online sounds like hoax, can't be cheap till where. but wait. its really convenient! my god i sound so mountain turtle + gcb =x
Prudential Hotel is at Nathan Road, easily accessible to Jordan MTR, Temple St juz cross the road twice, quite convenient location. but the nice pics looks like hoax to me, cos there are diff grades of the rooms, so what i m paying peanuts for may not be what i m seeing now. shit. when this peanuts is considered peanuts when compared to other rooms grades in this hotel, i could spend it betta at the first hotel. tsk.
what the fuk.. i juz realise transport in hk is expensive. a bus ride costing SGD$6.. taxi SGD$64.. WOW how does hk ppl survive if they always late like me? =x
wa i always have the impression that YMCA accomodations = backpackers = dbl decker beds with many ppl in one room. but this one is cool leh! cheap cheap! and seems more honest oso. offered couple of photos of diff room types. though i not sure which is the $88 room, but the nex grade is $106 so its not too bad la, if i see liao like shit still can change.
- 2 blocks away from Lady Street aka nu ren jie
- 2 blocks away from Mongkok shopping centre and MTR
- graded 3 star by zuji.com
cool! man.. its tough choice ain't it.
hmmm this Dorsett Seaview hotel's description and location seems good leh.. near police station, hospital, mtr and basically, eh wtf. its near the above two. why i keep revolving around Nathan Road? anyway, this one sounds good cos :
- $101 per nite
- location very convenient
- buffet breakfast at $10 per person
- got wireless internet
but got one tourist who went in march 2007 did a review saying the hotel sucks, all around the hotel is red light district, service sucks, dirty all around the hotel. dirty as in no sweep floor or dirty as in many chicken?
eh wait. i juz saw a street in the map: portland street. isn't that what the movie always say? "later i sell u to portland street be chicken!"
eh sheesh. come to think of it, temple street is attraction or also red light district? WTF. but all these cheap cheap hotel is around there leh.
tsk, aiya, day time we will be taking train out to other attractions ba. even if back oso oni in the room.. no scared ba? afterall, gangster is better than terrorist. i rather go hk then those countries threaten by terrorism.. =/ police station is down the road.. quite safe la hor?
oooh another Dorsett, Dorsett Olympic is connected to the dorsett seaview with that loop complimentary shuttlebus to city. but this one is within walkin distance to mongkok mtr, as reviewed by a singaporean. wah the room mite look small, but the lobby looks class! room small as long as not claustrophobic kind can le, n they make gd use of their space. most impt, got water heater and wireless internet. either $80 or $98, inclusive of american breakfast. cool.
omg. i is in love with this Novotel Century hotel. but. its $128 per nite, and it seems the area around this hotel are places that is not selling those very normal citizen kinda pricing thing.. sounds like our Bugis Area kinda pricing.. and the best tourist attraction that is near it is the ferry terminal to Macau.. but there is a free shuttle bus to city centre.. perhaps we can consider going round the city and town on 8th and 9th and 10th, then 11th go macau till evening then come back.
a singaporean did a review on this hotel last yr, say the room is small in international standard, but it overlooks those lifestyle things like pharmacy and supermkt.. so okie la.
eh shit. i juz recalled. there is oni NOON flight to hk on 8th.. 1.30pm, 3.25pm and 7pm.
i had been thinking we will fly after work on 8th. ok la. nvm, at least i m not spending $100+ for juz 5 hours on the first nite.
hmmm this one.. Ibis North Point seems not very honest leh.. no pictures of the rooms, just a very unclear pic of the hotel exterior. 3 reviews says the place is clean and cheap but the room is tiny till a couple got problem packing in their luggage in the room, can't walk around. shit ttz claustrophobic liao lor. $84 or $89, queen size bed. quite out of the way, need to travel quite a fair bit to get around =/ oh and someone said the bed hard until u cannt slp on your sides. hmmm..
haha found one tatami hotel, as the name has it, all 3 reviews by tourists says, its tiny and incorrigible. unless u usually sleep in parks while u backpack, this might not be good enough for you. LOL.
ok. i must not let amos see this hotel. he will sure like it. but we must stretch our dollars! Panda Hotel is the best in terms of location, amenities and room by far. $123 per nite. near lan kwei fong, disney, train station and many spots. cos its in town. a review says: its a champagne with beer budget. indeed, at this price with this quality and the good service. but we gotta stretch our dollar. next.
WAH! good food sink in the bottom of the pot awaiting your discovery man. the last hotel in the list.. is fantastic! okie, i is not being drama, just that i is typing each paragraph after reviewing each hotel in the zuji webbie, so i is discovering as i write. hence the emo and the strike offs.
amos will definitely like this cosmo hotel. definite. its ritz standard but smaller room oni lor. wow the equipments available in each room and the customer service is definitely ritzy from what i see in the reviews and the description of the hotel.. and it has a jazz bar in the lobby, definitely amos's cup of tea. its $126 or $144 per nite inclusive of breakfast. has complimentary shuttle service to causeway bay and other attractions. got internet also. i guess we can take this one if we do some calculations.. cos if we take a cheaper hotel, plus bus or train then plus breakfast plus internet also around or more than this price for one day ma.
i juz realise, seems no matter which hotel i look at, the area also around the same one leh. except those far off like Ibis.
errrrmmmmz. actually i m more in favour of going taiwan than hongkong leh. cos taiwan got more food that i wan try, and i heard the culture of the people there is slower pace and more friendly less sceptical than hong kong leh.. wadz the point of going to hongkong which is like singapore: fast pace, sceptical people who will run away if a stranger smile at them? well i would want to run away if a stranger smile at me in singapore la. thx to that stupid drama teaching anti terrorism some time back, cos in that show, that stranger that smiled is a terrorist leh 0.o ...
doesnt matter that, anyways, the calculations should goes:
Each Person --- Air Tix $407 + $25 Service Charge + $6.60 Security Surcharge from HK back to SG + $280 Better Accomodation = $718.60
Each Person --- Air Tix $407 + $25 Service Charge + $6.60 Security Surcharge from HK back to SG + $180 Alright Accomodation = $618.60
Prices of rooms quoted up there is = Per Room Per Nite.
hmmmm seems we have to do our sums together le =/ only got July and August salary to save up wor.. and Rueyloon is getting married in July..
anyhow, its been fun doing these maths. we'll hafta see if amos and his mama got better ways to wriggle round to a better air tix rate onot le ba. and see if his that accomodation at Causeway Bay is $50 per head per nite or $50 per room per nite.
haiz.
