Give.
Christians have this saying that sounds something like that, some where.. think i learnt it from Huiling or Pastor Prince on one of the church session i tag along with huiling to New Creations.
U give a portion of your harvest to God, he will return you, somehow, 7 fold.
Let me pick someone from 217 and give an example, please note that it does not mean that the rest are asses and this guy is an angel. it so happen that its convenient to use him as an example cos he sits beside me and i hear that often LOL.
e.g. When we do our best for our works and take the extra metre to help our clients a little even with things not related to our contract scope, as though its our own wedding, its but a gesture that requires few minutes, but the clients would be happy and become customer advocates and recommend other couples to us.
When that happens, in Sam's words, he would say: Praise the Lord, God is Good.
Either Confucian or one of the old man said:
lao wu lao, yi ji ren zhi lao; you wu you, yi ji ren zhi you.
[treat other people's elders like yours, treat other people's young like yours]
Someone, somehow, somewhere along the way said:
what goes around, comes around.
My Physics Teacher Mr Pang said:
Potential Energy = Kinetic Energy
Elaine Koh (Amos's mum, an entrepreneur) says:
don't so gei gao and plan your steps so carefully and scared people eat your advantage. instead of saving those little benefits, if you have been more benevolent, you would earn more.
Today I say:
mai gei gao. zh'o l'ang hum hum, pua p'eh jia wu l'ang lai tum. [don't be so calculative. be humble, when u sick then got people visit] be sincere. don't wei li shi tu. [don't only do things for the sake of returns]
met someone today that is bloody gei gao. ngeow ga chu't zhup [stingy until he stinks with stingy-juice]. if he is not so gei gan, i believe he would have learnt much more, everyone would have love to share with him much more, and his work would have been dozen folds better.
*shake head*
to think he goes to church on sundays and listens to Pastor Prince's sessions. to think he is Christian, wears a cross, owns a bible but like what Dan was saying of a bible today: eh.. not enlightened wan.. no highlight or writing inside =_=
anyways, as mentioned in the above samples of who-say-what, it is obvious that what i m trying to say is:
give when you can. don't bother yourself so much by being so gei gao. instead of just seeing mis-favors done by people onto you, why don't highlight to yourself what you may have been gei gaoing with people that makes them gei gan you. then again, as Peter says: The Yellow Pages Syndrome patients are 9.5 outta 10 people you meet. it is always convenient to Point Fingers to others and not facing oneself's mistakes.
you people reading this, please be a dear and remind me when my Yellow Pages Syndrome acts up ya.
btw, gei gan = gei gao + gan b*
as of today, thou resolut to use lesser vulgarity in my blog.
