Mineral Make Up
After all the rave and excitement for MMU nursery standard students Joyce, Jieying and Ting, here's an article that reminds us that MMU is a not a miracle make up ^^
Can Mineral Makeup be Bad for your Skin?
and how MMU is debated to be good or bad and what you ought to know before you begin. do take note of the last paragraph on buyers beware, on the page 3.
The Lowdown on Mineral Makeup
So far of what i've found out about MMU, the disadvantage would be:1. if never clean properly, the fine powder will ultimately clog up pores
2. cos other than lip gloss and mascara, most things comes in loose powder, you may make a big mess if brought out
3. gotta order from US
4. you may overspend while trying out sample shades of the mmu products but kept couldnt reach the right color. you may also overspend due to the attractive varieties of colours and lines for each product, with the illusion that the sample is "cheap cheap only". the cheap cheap samples may come up to a huge sum before you realize. and also, the other tools and products on the website may cause you to overspend too, as it always seems tooconvenient and too good a deal to miss.
always remember Joyce Tan's mahjong statement:
small small sums could come up to a big big win / lose
As for the benefits, the list is long and counting man.
1. high quality UV protection
2. light reflecting quality that makes you look more radiant and hide wrinkles
3. the price is cheaper compare to normal make up that you'll find in Singapore., even after shipping included
4. it's coverage is as good, or even better than normal drugstore brands less allergy or clog pore cases, or non at all
5. no touch up is needed, even when you keep touching your face, or wiped with tissue
6. for extreme oily face+big pores, it don't melt;it don't sink into pores, and it covers up the big pores look
7. the minerals warm up by your body temperature, melds to create a natural look. even if the shade is wrong, if you don't see your neck you won't notice, cos of the texture it created on your face.
8. mmu is not totally different from drugstore make up, in fact has the same main ingredients (minerals such as mica, zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide) . however, it is better in the way that mineral makeup frequently eliminates classic "irritants" – like fragrances, binders, synthetic dyes, and preservatives, hence eliminating some of the related skin problems.
9. most of the mmu webbies offers variation in the sizes of their products, offering sample and full sizes. hence you can buy a few shade of foundation sample to test which is most suitable. in the case that you have a day at the beach and return with a slightly tan-ner complexion, can use the darker sample for the time being.
10. titanium dioxide and zinc oxide have anti-inflammatory properties, certain mineral makeups can also have a calming effect on the skin, particularly important if you suffer from inflammatory problems such as rosacea or acne
11. you can use the same eyeshadow on both your eyes and your cheek. i saw on everyday minerals website, there is one section that gives people idea of dolling up with their products. this particular image was create with the same eyeshadow used on the eye, the cheek and the lips. versatile man. depending on which company, there's one that uses butter, another that uses jojoba oil, i was teasing Ting that we can use the lip gloss as icing for cupcakes =P
if you're new to mmu, lumiere is offering a good deal to help find a suitable shade of foundation for you. check this out Try Me! Sample Starter Kit
cool rite. oh wells. still need to explore and test out first ba to find out if these are true. the testimonies and trial & error notes of girls since 2005 till today in flowerpod forum could be a reference.
there's loads of mineral make up stores online. but do check out the content of the product before putting it on your skin. there are drugstore brands coming up with the product: Mineral Makeup. it could be just with a higher content of the minerals but still inclusive of whatever preservative and chemicals.
but as a classic rule of thumb, whatever foreign object that you place on your skin, be it the usual make up or mineral make up, clean it thoroughly and never leave it overnight. when irritation occurs, stop usage immediately.
these are some of the webbies that was recommended by li ann. most likely ordering from lumiere next week ^^ seen li ann and khryz using it, looks pretty =)
i is just started on this journey to use mineral make up, so what i know if pretty limited. do let me know if you have any information or knowledge to share (x
